The lakes are finally stocked! Just up the block 300 big brown trout were placed in on March 18th. Many anglers have already reported catching several large healthy brown trout from West lake. The days following the stocking is when these fish will be most aggressive. Several lures will work excellent in catching these fish. A few of them are Kastmasters in gold and silver, Blue Fox Lures and Thomas lures. Gold lures have been producing most. Most other colors so far. If you do not feel like throwing lures, then you can try using a nightcrawler, wax worm or small shiner under a float.
Don't be surprised to catch a bass also while targeting these trout. They are starting to become more active at this time of the year as too. Some anglers have also taken some interest in fly fishing recently. A great place to learn and sharpen you fly fishing skills would be either the Carmens river or the Connetquot river.
We now have less than a month until the start of our striper season. Stock up on your gear now and be ready when the time comes. Some good early season lures are small swimming plugs such as red fins, bombers, finesse fish and small bucktails. We have all these things in stock and will only be adding to our inventory as the season draws closer.
