Fishing Report April 19th 2015

the saltwater front is now starting to see some life. short bass have been taken on sandworms in the bays such as the narrows bay and patchogue bay. it was even reported that the water 53 degrees on an out going tide which is a very promising sign. flounder action is finally starting to see a rise with anglers pulling a limit out of the muddy flats of the narrows and Hecksher. rumors of bluefish in the bay have been circulating this past week with the abundance of bait in the bays smiths point bridge and democrat point have seen small amounts of blues but none in numbers yet.

freshwater this week has been following the weather patterns on the nice days anglers have been seeing better catches of bass and pickerel. patchogue lake and cannan lake to name a few have seen some good bass action. the stocked lakes are still producing good catches of both rainbows and browns. mealworms have been the way to go this week with shop regular tony seeing his limit of big browns multiple  times this week.
