West lake was recently stocked with several hundred brown trout. The fish were biting the minute they got put in. Most people were doing well with small kastmasters, thomas lures and phoebe lures. Nightcrawlers fished under a float have done a good job catching too. Several more stockings with brown and rainbow trout are expected in the next weeks. Connetquot state park kept fly fishermen busy again this week. I was able to fish a morning last week with good results. Larger rainbows and brook trout were willingly hitting streamers and bead headed nymphs. I walked a good stretch of the river and was able to spot a good amount of fish in each beat.
Small Stripers will be here very soon. Its time to get the reels spooled up and grab those last minute back bay plugs and soft plastics. We should (hopefully) be in the clear after this potential storm coming up...yes another one. Not the spring weather we expected.

Just one last reminder. The patchogue fishing flea market is coming up soon. Mark the calender's for Sunday, April 8th. we will have tables in the usual spot.
