Breaking News…Patchogue Dock Produces Blues and Bass

The weather has been getting warmer resulting in more fish moving into our local area. Reports have been coming in recently about catches of bluefish and schoolie bass. Most of this action has taken place at our local docks right here in Patchogue. Bait has landed the majority of these fish althought some have reported that they have taken a few bluefish on topwater lures. Baits of choice would be bunker and mackerel for the bluefish and sandworms as well as clam for the bass. If you are looking for some flounder action, try to focus your efforts around shallow muddy areas...

Porgy's open Friday: Bluefish are almost here

  We have had some locals reporting of some early bluefish action off the local docks, thier small but hey their fish. Loads of bunker to be found in the bay assuring Bass and Blues are not far behind. The porgy season opens on may1st, we will have a full compliment of hooks, rigs, worms and clams Now in stock. On the fresh water scene,  trout action is still very good.  The baits of choice are night crawlers, trout worms or wax worms. Lures continue to produce well, Kastmaster, thomas lures, super vibrax,  will all do fine. Get Ready, Get Set, Fish….

the saltwater front is now starting to see some life. short bass have been taken on sandworms in the bays such as the narrows bay and patchogue bay. it was even reported that the water 53 degrees on an out going tide which is a very promising sign. flounder action is finally starting to see a rise with anglers pulling a limit out of the muddy flats of the narrows and Hecksher. rumors of bluefish in the bay have been circulating this past week with the abundance of bait in the bays smiths point bridge and democrat point have seen small...
