Rainbows and Brook Trout are the two main species of trout within the river . Average range of these trout run between 10-18 inches and bigger . The Set up I personally use is a 3/4wt 7’6 fly rod paired up with 4wt Fly reel spooled up with 4wt floating line . Floating line is ideal for the river , but if you are gonna fish the pond at connetquot I recommend a sink tip line for some areas are fairly deep . connetquot is phenomenal for any elite or new fly angler , so make sure to check it out if you ever get the chance you won’t be disappointed!
The Park keeps their river well stocked so I wouldn’t worry to much . The flies that produces fish that day were streamers ( Green wooly bugger ), nymphs ( hares ear brown ) , dry flies ( wulff ausable) and scuds ( pink ) .
