West Lake, Patchogue

West Lake is located in Patchogue just north of Montauk Highway and west of Waverly Avenue. The lake is fed by Tuthills Creek.

Physical Features:

Area: 20 acres
Maximum depth: 5 feet

Access:

There is informal access available at the end of Marshall Street. Fishing is also possible from the dam at Montauk Highway.

Directions: Take Waverly Avenue to Marshall Street (small dead end street opposite cemetery) in Patchogue.

Restrictions: Hand launched boats are allowed; shoreline access is available but limited.

Fish Species:

Naturally reproducing - Largemouth Bass, Bluegill, Pumpkinseed, Yellow Perch, Brown Bullhead

Stocked - Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout

Fishing:

West Lake is stocked with trout by DEC to provide a seasonal fishing opportunity in the cooler months. Trout occasionally hold over the summer in this lake. West Lake also provides respectable fishing for warmwater species including largemouth bass.
