Fluke Season Opens • Weakfish &  Bluefish - Are Not Far Away • Porgies Arrive In Force • PROPOSED-Sea Bass Opens May 16th

May 4th was the start of the  Fluke season in New York.  Preliminary reports have been good.  Predictions are that it's going to be a spectacular opening.  So, A couple of fluke rigs and a spearing-squid combo will "do the trick" and hopefully bring home a 10lb doormat. Some good places to start are  Shinecock Inlet  and Moriches bays (Narrow Bay.)

April Fishing Update-May Fishing Forecast

Porgy fishing begins on May 1st.... Anglers will head to our North Shore and Peconic Bays . The best bait to use for porgy would be sand-worms or clam on a small bait rig with a size one or two hook.The best places to target porgy would be peconic bays, Wildwood State Park and cedar beach both located on the north shore.  The south shore has its share of porgies too.  Best to concentrate, around the inlets or Artificial Reefs and local wrecks.

Striped Bass Are In!! • Last Chance For Spring Blackfish-Fluke Ready To Open • Porgies Start May 1st-Weakfish Not Far Behind

 

Breaking News: Striped bass hit the beach.  Fish have been reported from Smith Point County Park  beach to Patchogue's Mascot Dock . Anglers have reported tacking fish on sp minnows, diamond jigs and shads and on Bunker Bait!!

Watch the Tides & Temps: In early April, a few degrees make a world of difference. Try to fish the "outgoing" tide in the late afternoon. The water that has been sitting in the shallow marshes warming up in the sun all day will pull back into the deeper channels, often triggering a feeding frenzy for any predatory fish waiting nearby.

Striped Bass season opens April 15th, reports of decent sized fish being caught in New Jersey, Hudson, and throughout Long Island waters., these fish will increase in the weeks to come !
