Crabs Are In!!! Try any of the Local Docks and here are multiple ways to catch them and all can be very successful.  Using a flashlight and crab net at night while walking the dock is a tried and true method. The crabs will cling to the dock and pilings and can be scooped up when you see them with the light. Walking the shallows or drifting in a small boat with a light and net will also work well. Having an extendable net can be very beneficial. Sometimes having one will make those far out of reach crabs easier to reach.

The 39th Annual Patchogue Village Snapper Derby will be held on Saturday 8/27th, from 1-2PM.  Bring your own fishing pole, J & J Bait and Tackle will supply bait and bucket.The derby is available to kids ages 6 & up! Call the Patchogue Recreation & Parks Department at 631-475-4302 with any questions!

South shore beach and boat fishermen are continuing to catch Sharks! Check out the regulations. Some of these animals need to be released quickly and unharmed.

Sea robin are super fun and easy to catch and can be found virtually anywhere. The best way to catch a sea robin would be a bait rig with clam or squid. Sea robin are a very good eating fish and have a flaky white meat similar to sea bass or porgy. They can also be used as a great option for fluke bait because it’s a favorite of fluke and is very durable and stays on the hook well
