Many anglers have reported a mixed bag of activity throughout the Island. Weakfish have been surprisingly lively. Many anglers are fishing from Ocean Beach, Peconic Bay, and Great South Bay and Shinnecock Canal have all produced weakfish.
Striped Bass have been reported in the south shore inlets and back bays.
The North Shore has produced some quality fish, with Porgies being caught at from Wildwood State Park and Peconic Bays.
Moriches and Shinecock Inlet have produced some great Fluke fishing as well.
Bluefish have been all around the bays and inlets. People are still catching bluefish at Smith Point County Park and Cupsogue Beach County Park off the beach. Using a diamond jig has been doing very well. Super strike poppers have been very effective and are really fun to use .

Weakfish Show Up!! • Bluefish On The Grill • Fluke And Porgies Start With A Bang!!• Weekend Update
Posted by Pablo Salinas on

MAY UPDATE: The early Fluke season has begun, rewarding anglers with some decent catches of these tasty fish. You can't be successful unless you get out there and try. We have gotten reports of keepers mixed in with shorts from Moriches (Narrow Bay) , Fire island, as well as in the Peconic Bays.Using bait like a Squid and Spearing combo fished on a bucktail or Gulp have both been successful. For Larger Fish try using some whole small Squid with larger Spearing. Keep in mind that their has been a change in the fluke regulations this year, Fluke must be 19" and there is a 3 fish daily limit per angler.

'2025 Fluke Season Opens • Weakfish Show-Up • Porgies Are In • BIG Bluefish Make A Showing • Lemon Garlic Fluke Recipe
Posted by Pablo Salinas on

WEEKEND UPDATE: Bluefish have been reported in our bay near the smiths point bridge @Smith Point County Park , to Robert Moses State Park with anglers catching fish up to 15 pounds. The best method for bluefish would be lures such as diamond jigs and top water poppers.
Fluke season opened with a bang and already people are doing very well at Robert Moses State Park, Shinnecock and the Peconic Bays. Try drifting whole squids for more keepers. Gulp baits do a great job too. Try them on the end of a bucktail. Locally, some good places to start are Shinecock Inlet and Moriches bays (Narrow Bay.)

Fluke Season Opens May 4th • Weakfish- Bluefish- Bass And Porgies Arrive In Force • Regulations Update
Posted by Pablo Salinas on

The local dock in Patchogue ( Patchogue's Mascot Dock ) is starting to see some life with bluefish and bass. Our first confirmed reports came in during the week of a couple of Bass were landed on top water lures. In about a week the areas should be loaded and they will be hitting lures and bunker chunks aggressively.
May 4th was the start of the Fluke season in New York. Preliminary reports have been good. Predictions are that it's going to be a spectacular opening. So, A couple of fluke rigs and a spearing-squid combo will "do the trick" and hopefully bring home a 10lb doormat. Some good places to start are Shinecock Inlet and Moriches bays (Narrow Bay.)
