The striped bass are on the move and anglers are targeting stripers with diamond jigs. size ranging from 24" to 29". Most of the activity is from smithpoint beach to Jones inlet. Striped Bass closes on Dec 15th, however "catch and release" is allowed all year!!

Blackfish are a great fall time fish to target, they fight hard and taste great. They can be found on both the north and south shores. This time of year they will be in deeper waters, typically ranging in the 40- 90ft depths. the baits of choice are green crabs and they can be fished on either rigs or blackfish jigs. Just be sure to bring plenty of extra gear and terminal tackle, because fishing for blackfish is a game where you do lose a-bit of tackle. Blackfish closes on 12/9/23 on the north shore and 12/22/23 on the south shore.

Sea bass/ Cod: The primary targets for the anglers who wish to brave the elements and the rough seas , are black seabass and cod. Both of these fish taste great and are found relatively in the same areas, which are the off shore wrecks of the south shore and eastern long island. They will both hit clam baits on hi low rigs. Seabass closes on 12/31/20.  The recreational season in federal waters is closed June 1 through August 31.    It will be some time before NYS regulations are consistent with this rule but anyone fishing in federal waters should be aware. READ MORE

Clam throughout the winter!

When the fishing slows down, or you want to change it up, remember you could go clamming throughout the winter months. All you need is a clam rake  (Local Pick-up ONLY) and a pair of waders to get you in the water and enjoy some Long Island's local seafood. Baked clams anyone?
